| First of all, we're not going to spy her through the keyhole! J. Mmm...ok, just a little bit...J Did you even notice those 3 paintings hanging on the wall of her room? Do they really exist? |
|
Do you have any doubt? JJ |

The picture on the left was made by Toshusai Sharaku (17??-1801?)
one of the greatest masters and one of the greatest
innovative and creative geniuses of the Japanese
woodblock print. The painting (on the
left) is featured on a 140 pieces collection, painted
during his short active career. In fact, as a
woodblock artist seems to have spanned only ten
months, at the end of 1794 and start of 1795. He
appeared from nowhere, instantly attained the greatest
heights of genius and then disappeared with equal
rapidity. Anyway his favourite subjects were typical actors of Kabuki theatre, even if Shakaku was pretty famous for his weird style, so we can consider his works as well as half-caricatures JJ |

The third poster was made by Theophile-Alexandre
Steinlen (1859-1923), even
if his Art Nouveau style may be confused with
Toulouse-Lautrec's one. Born in Lausanne, Switzerland, Steinlen moved to Paris at age 22 to pursue a career in art. He quickly won popular acceptance and produced literally thousands of illustrations, cartoons and drawings. Humanity and social sensitivity come through in his work. Anyway there's something more to say...The poster Elektra has in his room, called "Chocolats", was made in 1895! That means SIX years later the events on the series (1889)! An anacronism! |

Underground tunnels...Do you remember them? [taken
from Episode 37] [taken from Omake n°9] A few mentions about this topic can be found in Tibet and its ancient tradition. An English researcher spent many years studying every legend he come across and he found a few essays about these underground tunnels which can be accessible through caves on the surface. Also, he drew up a kind of map of tunnels, all across five continents, stating precisely they are artificial and not natural. About citizens of this underground World, lots of ancient books talk about people "led by a spiritual guide" who "escaped from surface, living in subterranean towns built up around tunnels which lead to capital..." Atlantis maybe? Blue Noah was a kind of underground city, wasn't it? J |

Seems that there's a reason Gargoyle is turned to a statue of salt...In fact, an episode of the Bible (Genesis XIX 12-29), tells the story of a group of angels who reaches Sodom to save Lot and his family before the destruction of the city, together to another town of sinners: Gomorrah. But Lot's wife doesn't respect the divine order of walking without turning back while a rain of flames destroys the city (in "Nadia" they were destroyed by the original Tower of Babel) and she becomes a statue of salt.

This is an interesting comparison...There are too many coincidences...In episode 7, Gargoyle says to Nadia: "Tonight I will show you a magnificent sight, the re-enactment of what happened to Sodom and Gomorrah"...Then, at the end of episode 39, Nemo orders him to avoid watching the Blue Water light but, such as Lot's wife, he watches anyway and he's turned to salt. |
Is it just an invention by Gainax? No, it's not! Get a look to the image below! Seems that this Kerry McLean has developed an already known idea to any "Nadia" fan!

Ayrton (Eaton), at the beginning of episode 28, being
in front of the "King of terror" (the Gratan),
mentiones a profecy of the end of the World during the
7th month of 1899. Believe it or not, the profecy REALLY
exists and it's featured on Nostradamus' most famous
book. It says: [taken from
"Centuriae" - X,12] On the year 1999 (and
not 1899...Just a voluntary mistake to show
Ayrton/Eaton's foolishness?) ...etc etc. Interesting, isn't it? |
|
Do you remember Eaton and his theories about the
"King of terror"? Or, better, kings of
terror, supposing he described 3 different monsters (a
fat ogre -Hanson- a thin but extremely strong one
-Samson- and a red-haired witch -Grandis-) Anyway, all of them are strongly inspired by a few evil creatures, called Oni, featured in ancient Japanese legends. Oni are demons of Japanese mithology which are supposed to born from the evil karma of humans. Usually, an oni is described as a fat, big giant with horns and an enourmous mouth (as Eaton pictured Hanson - get a look to the first image on the left). Basing on traditions, female oni is pictured as a charming and beautiful woman which can turn herself on a scaring demon (red-haired, maybe? J). Usually, they also dress with tiger-skin clothes (3rd image on the left) These monster could also use a few kind of weapon, especially rough ones (as nailed clubs) and they were menace of destruction of towns. Two more things to examine closely...
