Comments:
This is Gainax's official game (or, at least, the one they
produced). PC98 and FM-Towns, as far as I know, are computer
similar to European ones but programmed by Japanese people. The
only difference is that, in the FM-Towns version, you can hear
the voices of all the characters by the Full Talking System with
3 CD-roms. (The voice actors/actresses are the same of the TV
series.).
The most interesting thing, apart from the graphic, is the story. In fact, in opposition to the other videogames, which changed the events told in the original series, this one *just* tells an episode which could be perfectly inserted between episode 12 and episode 20.
The plot is simple: it's a normal day inside the Nautilus. Jean walks around, meeting his friends but Marie tells him there's something wrong with Nadia. Nothing relevant anyway...After a quick fight against a Garfish, Jean, Nadia, Nemo and the rest of the crew meet again for dinner. Then, suddenly, everybody but Jean, Sanson, Hanson, Ikolina & Echo, starts screaming for pain. Nadia, just to be non-conformist, tries to kill Jean, but it doesn't matter...JJJJJ
There's an epidemy ! Of course, this is a personal interpretation of what happens, supposing I can't read Japanese JJJ
Will Echo, Sanson, Hanson & Jean find the right medicine (at North Pole!) to save their friends? Of course, but not before lots of breathtaking fights against Garfish (and YOU decide how to fight, how to avoid torpedos, which weapon to use etc etc) and a desperate mission to save Nadia from Gargoyle's base (using a super aggressive high tech Gratan...see below)
It's easy to play, even if you don't know Japanese language. But, in this case, it's quite boring...There are 5 menu[s]: Look, Talk, Think, Move and System and you've to choose what to do step by step till something happens (an animated scene or so).
Here are a few screenshots.
