Sequences you've never seen !!

Strange title for a section, isn't it? But you won't be disappointed. Here you'll find a lot of images or even entire sequences which were excluded from the final version of the series and shown just during flashbacks or intro[s] to each episode. Sometimes the difference is just a different brightness or color balance, but I've also found a few nice things, such as an alternative version of Nadia's shower in episode 26...

Episode 1 - "The girl at Eiffel Tower"

Jean introduces himself to Nadia. In the official version (left), the background is the exit of the elevator. The alternative version (right), taken from a flashback in Episode 34, shows a different background!

Episode 5 - "Marie's Island"

Nadia, Jean & King crash down on the island. Once Nadia wakes up, she starts searching for her friends, finding Jean on a tree. In the official version (left), Nadia is worried at first, but then she's happy when Jean open his eyes. In the alternative version (right), taken from a flashback in episode 34, tears are added to the original cels and Nadia cries, moved.

Episode 11 - "A New Student on the Nautilus"

It's dinner time! In the official version (left), Jean is reading a book and Marie tells him it's not a right thing to do during dinner. But there's a short cut previous sequence you've never seen and it's taken from episode 34. In fact, as you can see on the right, Marie is knotting a napkin around her neck before the scene I described above.

Episode 13 - "Run, Marie, Run!"

The sun shown at the beginning of episode 13 is yellow...in episode 14, instead, the same scene is shown while summing up the story and the sun is white!

Episode 16 - "The Mystery of the Island that Vanished"

The Nautilus approaches a giant statue and the statue's chest section slides open to reveal a passageway. It enters the passage and...In the official version, lights are off and the submarine is behind the "ribs", contrary to the alternative version (on the right), taken from Nadia Music Video #1: lights are on and the Nautilus is in front of the "ribs".

Episode 20 - "Jean's Failure"

The Nautilus is preparing to dive, just while Grandis is re-washing Nemo's clothes after that Jean's rocket ruined them. The woman seems to ignore the danger, so Sanson has to grab into the ship. The official version of this scene is a bit different from the one shown in episode 34: in fact, this one features 2-3 frames which were excluded from the official version and it isn't centred.

Episode 21 - "Goodbye, Nautilus"

Jean wants to go with Grandis, Sanson & Hanson in mission to save the Nautilus so he hides himself inside the Gratan. They find him and then kick the boy off. In the official version, he's disappointed...In the alternative version, taken from music video #1, he seems on the edge of tears J

Episode 25 - "First Kiss"

As you can easily notice below, the sequence of Jean who's confusing Marie with a roast chicken is different in episode 25 (left) and 34 (the alternative version - right). Also, the bottom frame on the right was cut off.

Episode 26 - "King's on his Own"

This is the most classic example of "never seen" sequence...It's something to wonder about, since it was modified by Gainax itself...It's like they thought the version on the right was too "hot" and too long, so they raised a bit a side of the shower... As someone suggested (thanks Erik!), the "alternative/original" sequence on the right explains Jean's embarassed reaction much more than the official one...
