It's not easy to track Nadia's life, especially regading her past. In fact, while both present & future are well explained (and, if not, I explain them through my fan fictions JJ), we know just a little about what happened to her after the destruction of Thartessos. Let's see...

Let's start from a dialogue taken from Episode35... {Nadia} "The days of the Dragon of Fire and of South
Ngonde have been reborn fifteen times. On this joyous day, we ask that
a hundred joys, a thousand happinesses, and ten thousand loves be bestowed
upon our Princess Nadia. Her life code shall be recorded here." |
Nadia discovers when she was born. It was a 15 year long mistery for her...and the starting point for an analysis of her past. In fact, what happened between May 31st, 1875 and a day in 1889?

Thanks to a series of flashbacks & memories, we know Nadia grew up in a circus. But...how the hell Nadia ended up being sold to a circus???? Here's a personal idea...We all know it was an itinerant circus, right? There were lions (shown in Ep1), elephants (shown in Ep25), oxen (shown in Ep29)...Where does a circus take all these kinds of AFRICAN animals from? (Difficult question, uh?) Where was Thartessos? Maybe, after the explosions of the Tower of Babel, she was found near the old Kingdom and brought (supposing there were no living people around) together with the animals, to the circus. Then she started learning how to be an acrobat and... |

By the way...as far as I've undestood from the series, she didn't start immediately as acrobat. In fact, when she reminds her first "trainings", she is no less than 6-7 years old. What happened before? Probably she did a few numbers with elephants...in a flshback she's 4-5 years old but we only discover why she become vegetarian. In Ep25, instead... {Nadia:} Why, why do you have to kill him? |

...so she worked with elephants. In Ep1 she's doing a number with lions so maybe the master decided she's old enough to do something similar, I don't know J Summing up: Nadia, in her "circus" period, learns
how to: balancing on a ball and on a rope, working with lions & elephants...She
also learn how to live: |

We know what happened in 1893 thanks to Fuzzy's story...Nadia lives in London and works as a "pseudo" journalist at Planet Times. She's far away from Jean for a personal choice: she wants to understand how to be self-sufficient but only later she learns it's the wrong thing to do. What? Do you want to know what happened between 1891 and 1901? Well, there are two ways to do that... a) just learn Italian and read my fan fictions (which explain what really happened in those years) or b) wait till, once I drink a lot, I'll start translating them JJJJJ |
Finally we know something about her in future (1902) thanks to Marie, at the end of the series...

{Marie} Jean and Nadia finally got married five years ago, and are now living in Le Havre. Jean and his uncle are still absorbed in inventing, but I hear that Nadia and Jean's aunt don't complain as much as they used to. Even though Nadia became a mother, she still won't eat fish or meat. It's a little strange. |

Nadia's psychology is not really simple to explain. Her early childhood experiences had to fight against the middle childhood ones to determine her character. That's why it is so complex! JJ
PAST:
She had a quite complex childhood as I've already written. She
passed 14 years inside a sort of cocoon (the circus), learning
how to live, how to face people...passing through hard times (the
first trainings) and better times (the end of the shows or
applaused by the crowd). Something that a person usually learns
in his middle age. Here's the source of her personal distrust,
selfishness and obstination. But it's also a cause of sudden
crisis. I consuel to read the extra episode called Nadia
Super Encyclopedia to lean more about *our heroine*.
PRESENT:
Once Nadia met Jean, she had to face a dilemma: keep being so
early "adult" or start living as a normal teenager.
Only later in the series, she understands this second way is the
right one. But it doesn't mean there are no problem: LOVE, first
of all. There's an entire episode (Ep 34 - never broadcasted by
those @#°@# here in Italy - check my "Script" section) about the
difficulties of this new feeling, and a lot of addictional signs
can be found in other episodes.
Apart love, the dilemma is connected with something more; in fact, her selfishness, distrust etc aren't so appreciated by friends. So she ofter wonders why it is so, supposing everybody seemed to understand her at circus.
Nadia} "Really fussy and gets mad all the
time?"
{Jean} Well, she's right about that, anyway.
{Jean} See? You're mad.
{Nadia} This doesn't count as being mad!
{Nadia} I guess she might be right that I get worked up really
easily.
{Nadia} But I'm kind of a tomboy.
{Nadia} I get pretty sentimental sometimes, too.
{Nadia} I was really popular at the circus, you know.
FUTURE:
As years go by, Nadia finally understands how a girl of her age
should live. She seems less selfishness, less obstinated, MORE
jaelous (Fuzzy...)...in 1902, she seems a perfect wife for Jean,
though she can't still cook...Anyway, a bit of her
"old" character is still kept: she still refuses to eat
meal & fish.

Mmm...I guess there aren't addictional notes about Nadia. I mean, apart her mysterious past (which I tried to reconstruct), a lot of things about her are well explained, episode by episode. If you have any doubt, or you just want to tell me how awful is my English, let me know. JJ
